ITINERARY DETAILS
DAY 1
Palermo
Welcome to Sicily, the pearl of Southern Italy. Your private driver will pick you up from the Palermo Airport and take you to your luxury hotel. Spend the remainder of your day discovering the city's vibrant atmosphere. Ask your travel consultant for recommendations of their favorite restaurants, cafes, and entertainment spots.
DAY 2
Palermo – Full Day Tour of Palermo and Monreale
After breakfast set off on a guided tour of Palermo and Monreale. In Palermo, you will visit the Norman Palace with the Royal Apartments, the Palatine Chapel, also known as the Church of St. Giovanni degli Eremiti, and lastly the Cathedral. In the afternoon, take a short drive up to Monreale to visit the great Norman Cathedral and its magnificent mosaics, having survived from the Middle Ages.
DAY 3
Palermo – Full Day Tour of Segesta and Erice
Head west and enjoy a full day tour of Segesta, a splendid but incomplete Greek Temple standing on its own, at the top of a gently rolling hill, as well as Erice, a medieval town perched on top of an isolated limestone spurt, high above the sea.
DAY 4
Palermo, Marsala, Selinunte, Agrigento
In the morning you will depart for Agrigento. On your way, you will explore the sea salt ponds near Trapani, and head down the coast to the seaside town of Marsala, well known for its sweet production of wine. Enjoy a wine tasting before continuing to Selinunte, where you will have time for a visit at the archaeological park. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at your luxury hotel in Agrigento, with an evening full of relaxation.
DAY 5
Agrigento, Syracuse
Start your morning with a guided tour of the remarkable Valley of Temples in Agrigento, before departing for Syracuse. On the way, you will have the opportunity to stop at Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina, a UNESCO World Heritage site which was built between the 2nd and 4th century. This ancient villa was once a retreat for a Roman Emperor, housing lavish and beautiful mosaics that you don't want to miss. You will arrive to your hotel in Syracuse in the late afternoon.
DAY 6
Half Day Tour of Syracuse
After breakfast, begin your guided tour of Sicily's most popular destination. Syracuse is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which once rivaled Athens as the largest and most powerful city in the Greek world. Enjoy your visit to the archaeological park, with the Latomia del Paradiso, the Greek Theatre, and the Roman Amphitheatre. End your tour by exploring the Ortigia and its Duomo built on the Temple of Athena, before your afternoon of leisure.
DAY 7
Syracuse, Noto, Taormina
On your way to Taormina, you will have the opportunity to visit the most fascinating Baroque city of Sicily, from the 18th century, known as Noto, which was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693. In the afternoon, you will arrive to Taormina, and spend the remainder of your day by either exploring the city at your own pace, or relaxing at your luxury hotel.
DAY 8
Taormina – Half Day Tour of Mt Etna
Start off your morning with a half-day excursion of Italy's most memorable landscape to Mt. Etna, the highest volcano in Europe with a height of 3,350 meters. After reaching a height of 2,000-meters by car, take a funicular and a special four-wheel vehicle to reach the point right below the main crater. Admire the dramatic lava tracks and take in the breathtaking bird's eye view of Sicily, before returning to Taormina for an afternoon of relaxation.
DAY 9
Taormina
Enjoy your last day exploring the city on your own pace. You can either visit the Greco-Roman Theatre, sign up for a cooking class, or charter a private yacht to explore the coastline furthermore. Ask your leisure travel consultant for recommendations of their favorite things to do while in Taormina.
DAY 10
Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Catania Airport, to catch your departure flight.
